What You Need to Know About Our 40+ Personal Training Program

  • We’ll blend the above exercise types to create personalized programs to help manage specific concerns, such as weight difficulties, arthritis, or mild Parkinson’s disease.

How is This Different From Regular Gym Training?

  • It’s clinically informed. Your trainer will collaborate with our physiotherapists and other health professionals to develop your workout plan.
  • We design your program to improve specific health metrics, not just general fitness.
  • Our plans consider pain levels, injury history, and additional medical guidance.
  • There’s no pressure to perform. Instead, you’ll progress at a pace that works for your body.

Is it Safe to Exercise With my Condition?

In the vast majority of cases, yes. While some conditions may require additional guidance to help you avoid injury, regular physical activity offers immense physical, emotional, and cognitive benefits. It can:

  • Reduce joint pain and stiffness
  • Improve blood sugar and blood pressure levels
  • Boost mood and reduce symptoms of anxiety or depression
  • Increase energy and stamina
  • Support brain health and reduce the risk of cognitive decline
  • Strengthen muscles around painful joints, which improves function

Your trainer will work closely with you to ensure you’re never pushed beyond what’s reasonable for your situation, including adjusting the intensity or type of exercises based on your comfort and feedback.

Will I Be Working Alone or With Others?

All sessions are one-on-one with your trainer, which allows for better attention to detail and ensures your plan matches your needs precisely. 

What is the Role of the Rest of the Team at MSK Centre?

Our trainers work closely with our other clinicians to ensure your training program matches your unique needs. They can monitor for symptoms or setbacks and will provide clinical goals to your trainer to help guide your program.

For example, let’s say you’ve finished a rehabilitation program after an injury. Our personal trainer will step in at the end of the program to transition you into a program to further build strength and function.

Summer Watermelon Feta Salad

Beat the heat with this crisp and refreshing Summer Watermelon Feta Salad, the perfect balance of sweet, salty, and tangy flavors. It’s a light, vibrant dish that’s sure to steal the show at any summer gathering.

Ingredients:

  • 4 cups watermelon, cubed and chilled
  • 1 cup cucumber, thinly sliced
  • ½ cup crumbled feta cheese
  • ¼ cup red onion, thinly sliced
  • 2 tablespoons fresh mint, chopped
  • Juice of 1 lime
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • Salt and pepper to taste

    Optional Add-ins:
  • Grilled shrimp or chicken for protein
  • Avocado slices for healthy fats

Directions:

In a large bowl, combine watermelon, cucumber, red onion, and mint. Drizzle with lime juice and olive oil. Toss gently to combine. Top with crumbled feta. Season with a pinch of salt and pepper. Chill for 10–15 minutes before serving.
