Personal Training That Supports Real Life
All you want to do is find some ways to get active and improve your fitness. But when you head online for advice, it’s full of contradictions. One influencer tells you to lift heavier. Another tells you to do more cardio. Oh, and you should be doing a brand new routine every single week.
Don’t worry: MSK Centre is here to help you cut through the noise. Our team of registered kinesologists will work with you to build a personalized plan that matches your goals, whether that’s building strength or aging healthfully. Plus, all of your training is grounded in clinical knowledge of human movement.
Whether you’re new to fitness, managing a health concern, or returning after some time away, one-on-one personal training can help you meet your goals.
Why Consider Personal Training?
You already know regular exercise is crucial to good health. However, finding an exercise program that meets your goals and abilities can be tough, especially if you’re just starting out. Our personal training program allows you to skip the guesswork and experience a range of benefits you can’t get from generic exercise plans, including:
- A personalized exercise program based on your current fitness level, movement patterns, and long-term goals (that also adapts with you as you see improvements)
- One-on-one instruction to help you perform exercises safely and with proper technique.
- Built-in accountability that helps you stay consistent and motivated.
- Immediate feedback so exercises can be modified if something feels uncomfortable or too challenging.
- Clear progress tracking through regular assessments and measurable milestones so you can see your real-world improvements.
- Support after injury or illness when you’re ready to return to exercise safely under professional supervision.

Who Can Benefit From Personal Training?
Anyone looking to improve their health and fitness can benefit from our one-on-one personal training programs. However, it’s an especially good fit if you:
- Feel unsure how to exercise safely
- Have stopped exercising after pain or injury
- Want to build strength but need guidance
- Are managing arthritis, chronic pain, or another long-term health condition
- Need accountability and structure
- Want measurable progress instead of random workouts
- Are preparing for a sport, hobby, job demand, or active retirement
How Personal Training Works at MSK Centre
While many commercial gyms offer personal training services, our approach is a little different. Namely, you’ll work with a registered kinesiologist–a university-trained movement specialist with extensive education in exercise, biomechanics, injury prevention, and functional training. This allows us to provide truly tailored programs tailored to your body, goals, and health needs.
A Comprehensive Assessment
First, we need to understand your strengths and limitations. We’ll start with an in-depth assessment that reviews several factors, including:
-Strength, mobility, and balance
-Movement patterns
-Fitness level and exercise tolerance
-Health and injury history
-Personal goals
A Targeted Plan
At MSK Centre, no two personal training plans are the same, as we tailor them to fit your needs. However, some of the areas we might address include:
-Strength training
-Cardiovascular conditioning
-Stretching and mobility drills
-Balance exercises, mobility drills
-Functional movements that make daily life easier, such as squatting to pick up a box, reaching overhead, walking, or climbing stairs.
If something feels too easy, your kinesiologist can progress it. If something causes discomfort or does not match your current ability, they can modify it.
Guided Group Sessions
Some people prefer the camaraderie of working out with others, which is why we also offer sessions for couples or small groups. These sessions are guided by a kinesiologist, just as our one-on-one sessions are, but they also provide the encouragement and camaraderie of hitting fitness goals with friends and loved ones.
We always keep the groups small, so you still receive the same individualized coaching, including exercise modification, progress tracking, and close attention to proper technique–all in a welcoming, supportive environment.
Take the Guesswork Out of Exercise
Exercise should help you feel stronger, more capable, and more confident. It shouldn’t leave you wondering whether you are doing the right things for your body. Personal training at MSK Centre gives you professional guidance, a clear plan, and support from a registered kinesiologist who understands safe, effective movement.
If you’re looking to support your long-term health, our personal training services can be a wonderful ally on that journey. Request an appointment today to learn how personalized training can help you move better and feel stronger.

Looking Forward To Fun Cookouts?: Healthy Grilling For Arthritis Sufferers
MAIN DISHES
Instead of greasy burgers, brats and hot dogs, try …
- Meaty mushrooms marinated in equal parts olive oil, balsamic vinegar and lemon juice. You’ll get immune-boosting nutrients in the mushrooms, vinegar and lemon juice. Plus, studies show that oleocanthal, one of the most concentrated anti-inflammatory compounds in olive oil, dampens the body’s inflammatory process and reduces pain sensitivity with a pharmacological action similar to ibuprofen.
- Salmon with a splash of lemon and a sprinkling of savory summer herbs. Salmon is rich in omega-3s and vitamin D, both of which enhance joint health, boost immunity and protect against inflammation.
CONDIMENTS
Instead of ketchup (which packs 2 teaspoons of sugar per tablespoon) or mayo (which is relatively high in unhealthy fat), try …
- Antioxidant-packed salsa or pico de gallo. Weighing in at just four to five calories per tablespoon, and zero fat, salsa boasts plenty of nutrients.
- Olive oil based pesto or sundried tomato spread. All three ingredients – olive oil, basil and sundried tomatoes – are loaded with anti-inflammatory properties.
SIDE DISHES
Instead of mayo-based salads like coleslaw, potato salad and macaroni salad, try …
- Bean salad. All beans boast fiber, protein and a bevy of anti-inflammatory phytonutrients.
- Sliced tomatoes, buffalo mozzarella and basil drizzled with balsamic vinegar and olive oil. Choose this tasty Caprese salad and you’ll get more oleocanthal and cancer-fighting lycopene.
Patient Experience
Real Feedback, Real CareDr. Rob is an exceptional practitioner. He is incredibly intelligent and explains body mechanics in a way that is easy for his patients to understand. I have learned more and have had more success with my chronic pain in the first 10 minutes of my very first appointment with Dr. Rob than I was able to get with 3 other practitioners combined. Dr. Rob is competent, kind, realistic, and supportive. You will not be disappointed with his care.
